3D Printed Mars Rover

Dayum, NASA has released the model to print the 3D Mars Curiosity Rover! Another reason to get a 3D printer haha! Looks awesome :

Download here!

Three Zero 1/6 Fallout 4 Brotherhood of Steel

Whoa, unexpected yet cool! Still, a bit cautious as their 1/6 figs have had a history of QC issues, case in point their Master Chief figure, and also limited poseability. Guess they haven't mastered the art of human scale like HT yet! :p

MAKS 2015

So MAK 2015 was held on the 27th of August at Zhukovsky airfield... man, gotta say Russian jets are actually pretty awesome, notwithstanding how they seem to require more maintenance and seem to be made of metal sheets riveted together haha! But really, some of their designs seem way ahead of their time.

Apparently for 2015 they brought out the MiG 1.44? The one that was supposed to have a plasma generated invisibility field instead of regular stealth? So awesome. I'm beginning to lose track of how Sukhoi numbers their jets though, so many variants!

Revoltech X-wing

Hmmm.. so got my revoltech X-wing! It's made of hard plastic thank gawd, not that rubbery stuff they're usually made of. The paint job is pretty ok, not overdone, so i guess the user can dirty it up a bit more if they wanted. :) Surface detail is good with panel lines throughout.

Two of the lasers were bent out of the box though, and the same stripy ones... factory fault? Anyway, nothing some hot water can't fix! The S-foils open and close, the engines are on ball joints so the angle can be adjusted. The canopy just pops off though, no hinge! The Artoo unit is nice... but the pilot is gawd awful... just look at him! :( There is landing gear too but it has to be swapped out.

Not a bad toy overall, not the best out there i guess? But better than that diecast series and some of what hasbro puts out. For the price they could have given more accessories like the ladder to the cockpit, or the pilot transport vehicle... guess most of it went to the license fee?  I'd give this a 7/10. I'm being generous here cos i like the X-wing in most forms generally! :D

Bandai Boba Fett and Slave 1 model kit

Looks like Bandai is releasing the kits for Boba and his ride... but what i REALLY want is the A and B wings.... maybe a Nebulon B Frigate? A 1/48 Y-wing, wouldn't hurt too. :p

Metal Gear Solid V

So, less than a week away from the launch of MGSV! I wonder how it'd do without Hideo Kojima... or is it all some weird elaborate scheme dreamed up by him? To make people think he's gone or something so that it somehow ties to the theme of the game? Maybe he went for a sex change operation? Who know? :p

Anyway, new launch trailer here! Admittedly the new Metal Gear looks... scary.Spoilers if you don't want to see what it looks like... and it's name too.... 0_o;

8 hour workday!

A bit longish but true! Never thought that staying long hours means that one is working hard... it's the opposite anyway! Sadly there's still a lot of old mindsets around...  :p ( blogger keeps resizing the image and the quality, here's a link to a clearer pic! )

SHFiguarts Star Wars Scout Trooper!

Interesting! Looks like the next Star Wars Figuarts release is the Scout Trooper! (I've always referred to him as the Biker Scout tho!). Looks pretty cool hehe. Release is next year March 2016 for 12000ish yen!

MP-21R Red Bumblebee!

Hmmm... guess they'll milk the mold for all it's worth? Haha, wish they'd make a proper cliffjumper now. :P

Maketoys NOT-Chromedome/Cupola

Weird choice of name, but then again, its to avoid getting sued i guess! Picked this up at the usual place and was pretty much looking forward to opening it up!

It's Masterpiece scaled, so it looks quite nice beside the others. There's been other headmasters from Fansproject, but this looks the better of the two in my opinion, as it looks closer to the animated version and lineart.

The quality and build are very good; the plastic doesn't have that cheap look 3P products tend to have, and the fit and joints are good. Paint apps are spot on and the details on the figure like vents and panel lines are screaming to be markered up haha.

Transformation is moderately easy; the parts have to line up, but will slot nicely into place most of the time. The chest has the headmaster stat gimmick printed on... Too bad they couldn't do the actual one like the classic toy. The headmaster figure is nicely detailed too with some basic articulation.

One minor complaint might be the poseability of the figure; due to the way the thighs are connected to the hip, plus the wheels there, the figure can't really raise his legs a full ninety degrees. Plus the fact that they used ratcheted joints means you can't really do fine adjustments, although that means the figure is pretty stable.

Still, the figure does look good overall and i look forward to future releases in this range! :)

Another year on this blue dot!

Hokaaay! Survived another year! *achievement unlocked!*, really i wish sometimes we had a way to look up the stats in our life, you know, for important stuff! Like total km walked, moolah spent, books read etc. haha ;p

Well, its the last year with a '3' in front of it *sobs* haha, but on the bright side i'm grateful for all the things i have experienced in life, good or bad :)

Hot Toys 1/6 Boba Fett!

Howdy Janet!

Interesting article on the 'black' flights going into Groom Lake! A lengthy read but interesting nonetheless!

Read more here!

"You can see Janet airplanes at several airports throughout the U.S. You can hear them on air traffic control. You can fly one in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. But you can’t buy a ticket on a Janet flight, and the people who fly on Janet flights can’t tell you, or even their families, what they do for work. It is seemingly an airline that flies to nowhere.

The multi-tiered secrecy surrounding the Janet jets, the unusual ways they operate and the places they go are one of aviation’s greatest legends. If it all seems like a big clandestine operation, that’s because it is."

On the topic of tigers...

Didn't know that they used an actual Tiger for the movie Fury haha! So cool. :)

"Fury’s action-packed sequences have the Tiger in combat with the Sherman tanks, which is astonishing considering that the very same Tiger was fighting Allied tanks for real just over 70 years ago in the North African deserts.

In fact, the tank that appears in the film is the only working Tiger in the world. Based at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, the film’s makers knew they had to use it."

There are video's on youtube on this tank, they 'upsized' the engine. Read more here!

1/6 Tiger I commision build!

Now THIS takes dedication... and well, lotsa spare time! Won't it be nice to run your own shop to do this everyday? At least you know its something you'd want to be doing haha! :)

More on the whole project here! I wonder how much it'd cost the guy who comissioned this? 10k? 15K? If i had the moolah to throw i think every cent is worth it seeing how much work and detail goes into this.

The shops called "East Coast Armory" and they have an awesome FB page too. :)

Sideshow Scout Trooper!

Wow, this was supposed to have been released ages ago? Apparently the west cost port strike delayed this and many other things... Like the Mcdonalds curry sauce and LJS fries haha!

Well, at least its here. Haven't opened it up to take a look but the detailing is pretty good! This trooper needs to wash his boots tho! The mid torso pouches are too clean though.. need some dirtying up for sure.

Tuesday!

Gawd, that's it for the long weekend? Flew by too fast! I think the only thing i enjoyed was the free travel on that day, but knowing the gahmen, they'll take back what they 'lost'. :p

Anywayz, on to more interesting topics! EP VII is only a couple of weeks away dammit. There's a new trailer out for Korea. New opening and some new music... man, pleaseeee dun screw it up! Well, there's always Rogue One to save it, and they've begun filming for it already! Finally a Star Wars TV series.... :p

PS. The new AT-AT's in the background look wierdddd.... enough with the apple inspired designs man.

Cool! Gonna see if i can get my mitts on this. :)

Gundam Docks HongKong!

So awesome! After it's soujourn here in SG, the show's moved back to HK Times Square for a month! Got a friend over there getting some stuff back haha, at least the exclusives seem better then the HK one! Nice 1:1 scale Zaku head on display too. :)

A guide to Gundam!

Interesting article on Gundam, from an American perspective anyway. Gundam to me will always be the "Universal Century" timeline. The other shows in the series are like Star Wars Eps I-III to me; it's there but not necessarily good. At least they are separate timelines and not canon like the prequel trilogy. :p

I kinda agree on how most people think an 18m tall robot would just make a realllly big (and expensive) target. But the reasoning for it (if i remember correctly), was that 1) the armor on these machines were so thick most conventional weapons were like peashooters to it 2) the discovery of "Minovsky Particles" which rendered conventional communications and targeting systems useless.

So if you wanted to kill an 18m tall robot, you'd need another 18m tall (or bigger) robot haha.

Article here

August!

Oh gawd, we're in August already? Time flies, well, the National Day long weekends start this week... so short week for me wheee! Kinda lost interest in the parades for quite a while, although i'm sure the kiddies would enjoy it, and fireworks are always cool to see. :p

It's been rainy for the last 2 mornings, dammit, great time to stay in bed to sleep. Think the weather is going crazy though, before that the weather was blazing hot.
