Ooo... Monday blues! Didn't sleep too well last night even though the kiddies knocked out early last night! Weather wasn't too hot, yet my mind couldn't rest.

Strangely, still had a dream that i went japan! Wow, i went to a bookstore looking for a magazine, even took their train to the location. I recall walking along their street, and seeing this tree without any branches, and there was damage yo the surroundings for some reason.

I decided to take a pic of the tree, and strangely the moment i did so, the tree crumbled into dust!

Now what does that mean? :p

Grimlock Smash!

This just in! It's Grimlock from the game "Fall of Cybertron" ( which was interesting albeit monotonous at points!), nice sculpt which is close to the game model too! Simple transformation but can't ask for more at this size.

It has lights too, but maybe removing that feature will shave 10 bucks off the toy? Still, pretty cool!

Updated pic from a Hobby mag! Looks good, and proportions are mucccch better than the last release of this. :) They're also re-releasing the VF-1S, what's new on that remains to be seen though!

Metal Build - Unicorn Banshee

Well, it was a matter of time before this came out, after all, it's just a re-paint of the original release, with some parts changed here and there. Still, looks pretty sweet, and the glossy finish is unique (although a matte version would have been 'fiercer').

Star Wars Black Series - S2

Had a look at the SW  Black Series figs, overall they look pretty good, much larger than the 3" plus figures we are used to, the detail is pretty good for the new size format, but then again, there's only so much detail you can put into a figure!

Here's the second series of figs, which has greedo too.... Mmmm slave Leia....

Ahh, there are definitely better things to do on a Monday morning.. least of which is go to work! Life is short enough as it is, why waste the time! Alas, the way the world works means most of us are slaved to our jobs....

Anyway, on the better news! Homeworld is getting a HD Re-release on Steam! Well, there ARE mods which already do this, but still, better than nothing! At least Gearbox is doing something with the license.

Do I see a glimmer of hope? A slight chance that Namco might actually put out a good game this time? Will they still use the stupid system from Assault Horizon? Only time will tell! In the meantime... enjoy!

SDCC 2013! +Robocop!

Wow, another year has come and gone? Still remember drooling over the upcoming releases back then.... and it also means STGCC is around the corner! Cos Hot Toys will bring their same items back from SDCC to display at STGCC!

Anyway, here's the new ED-209 from the upcoming Robocop reboot.... looks nice... but too generic already, doesn't have the character of the classic ED.

LEGO Winter Village Market

Uh, yeah it's a bit early, but LEGO has revealed their next set in the Winter Village line! It's the Winter Market this time round! Most of the previous sets have had some house or another, so this set seems.... a bit lacking in this respect.

Have I mentioned before how I find LEGO sets getting teenier and teenier? Not the mention this set still costs US$99! The variety IS nice though!

Monday monday!

Aaaand another week begins! Rainy here, cold last night, so the kiddies mostly slept through! :) Well, here's a pic to start the week! :p

Pacific Rim

What can i say? Finally a robot/monster movie done right! Thankfully the movie doesn't come off as cheesy or anything like that; a lot of big robot movies don't seem to make the transition to the big screen too well... Robo jox comes to mind somehow!

 

You can say this show is heavily influenced by anime like Evangelion, and shows like ultraman and godzilla... Heck, was expecting ultraman to appear in some scenes! The human development seems a bit rushed in some parts, and the actors characters seem rather flat.... But we're here to see the robots right? And they don't dissapoint; the fight scences are pretty breathtaking and well choreographed, they move with a certain heft, so their scale and sizes look and feel believable on the big screen.

The storyline is servicable; which movie hasn't used the 'end of the world unless we stop the invasion' trope? Overall, an entertaining movie with pretty good pacing, definately worth a watch.... Oh, stay for the extra ending! ;)

Murder at Kovan!

Was stuck in a BADDD jam after getting on the 317 home from the interchange, what normally takes only 15 mins became a wait of almost 30 mins.... in the same spot! The bust hardly moved past the 2 stop after the interchange, and most people in the bus were getting antsy at the waiting... over half the bus asked the bus driver to let them off at the roadside since the bus wasn't moving.

 

I was tempted to get off too, but luckily I stayed on cos the bus got moving again shortly after most of the people alighted woohoo! Anyway, once I crossed the junction, I took a look.... and didn't see any accident of whatnot there... which I found kinda strange.

 

It was only after I got home that I was told by some of my coligs that there was some suspected murder at kovan (more here!), some guy was dragged over 1km from hillside (that's where the old St gabes was), to Kovan MRT! Police closed a few lanes, causing the jam which tailed alllll the way back to Potong Pasir..... no joke!

TGIF!

Woohoo! It's Friday again! :) Time to wind down and kick back for the weekend. Went to Turf City (Former Turf Club) for lunch... man, place is grimy and old from the outside! But surprisingly, inside is quite interesting, there's a mishmash of modern shops and eateries there, with a nice free-market kind of feel. :) Oh, those car dealers are there also, like ahbengs from Sim Lim!

Hmm, read on Stomp that there's this place at woodlands industrial area which is supposedly haunted? Who area is wrapped in yellow cloth with offerings and all around, and talismans on the building... creepy!

LEGO European space agency

This is nice! Customs nowadays are so much better than the actual sets that LEGO releases currently!

I somehow feel the current sets are pretty lackluster? It's like the designers have been reigned in and told "Look, you gotta lower the brick count cos it's expensive... and oh, we're gonna sell it for high anyway!"

A lot of sets seem pointless and haphazardly slapped together (take a look at the LOTR sets), and even some SW sets look pretty bare-boned now compared to previous releases.

Pacific Rim

Man, one movie I wanna watch! Opens next Thursday here, can't wait! This movie is like a little homage to all the Japanese giant-monster movies that have come before. Heck, they even call the monsters "Kaiju" ( which is Guai4 Wu4) which mean monsters anyway... :p

And the giant monsters are like... Ultraman? :p
