Neca ED-209

Got this from falc's a couple of weeks back. Been wanting to open it, but you know, lack of time/kids etc haha.

Anyway this is about 10 inches, with basic articulation, but more than enough for ed's signature pose/s. Cool thing is that it has sound too, most of the key phrases and sounds from the movie are included. Paint app is the usual neca quality... Rough at best with a few stray spots, but decent enough. It ain't hot toys, but it doesn't cost the same price too haha.

ThreeZero Robocop - EM-208

Looks like 3-0 is full steam on the robocop products? They don't seem to have the HT quality in their finishes.. maybe that's why their stuff is always weathered? Anyway, the EM-208 is like the cannon fodder of the Robocop 2014 world. Kinda generic looking, but i guess it's meant to be that way! This is 1/6 scale too btw.

Preprod pics, but knowing Threezero, most of their stuff is weathered... a clean ED would like nicer methinks. Still nothing beats the ol' ED! :)

 

Robocop 2014

So i just caught the new robocop movie in a mostly empty cinema (thank goodness), and i'm pleased to say that i was thoroughly entertained!

The new movie takes cues from the classic movie and adapts it to todays technology and thinking, with enough subtle homages to the original without it been a remake of the classic. This is definately a strong standalone movie, with a good cast, why, even comissioner gordon is in it! Haha, and you know who murphy's partner is? The black dood from bf4 haha!

This version focuses a bit more on the 'software' behind robo, with a kinda shocking scene which i didn't expect during his awakening. It's also less violent and gory than the originals, which is a non issue to me. Sure, there are a few loopholes in the movie, but what movie doesn't.

I still prefer the silver suit in the movie over the black one, and man, i wish HT would make a fig of it! Overall, a worthwhile watch, 4/5! :)

ThreeZero Robocop figure

So there's a whole host of the new Robocop figures coming out soon, in fact I've already seen the toys at retail here haha. There's the Kai Arts figs coming, and now ThreeZero is also releasing theirs. Dunno if it's a 1/6 scale or no scale fig tho!

 

ThreeZero ED-209

So, 3Z is making ED-209 from the new Robocop movie? Admittedly, I still prefer the classic ED-209, this one seems too... generic, and overengineered! I've no doubt they'd make a good version of it though, their stuff is quite high quality! :)

 

Kai Arts Robocop 1.0

Hmm, I actually think the 1.0 ver looks better than the Black 3.0 one. :) I wonder how it evolves though, guess have to wait for the movie to see!

 

TGIF! Robocop Redux

Friday woohoo! This week seemed to pass slowwweeerrr than usual somehow. Maybe it's because the Earth has slowed it's spin as the year end approaches... or that's my theory anyway! Well, most places have the X'mas deco up, and X'mas songs piping through the speakers. Time to get in the mood woohah!

I think movie season should be coming to an end now, next major movie will be the 2nd part of The Hobbit movie, then most of the major movies will be out next year. Star Wars EP VII will be out Dec 2015.. man, didn't think i'd see this day come!

Also, trailer 2 for the new Robocop is out, pretty cool! Even though it's a remake, they have to make it as a standalone movie, and not tag on to the legacy of the previous Robocop, as that's a hard act to follow, and also a movie made for a previous age. :)

SDCC 2013! +Robocop!

Wow, another year has come and gone? Still remember drooling over the upcoming releases back then.... and it also means STGCC is around the corner! Cos Hot Toys will bring their same items back from SDCC to display at STGCC!

Anyway, here's the new ED-209 from the upcoming Robocop reboot.... looks nice... but too generic already, doesn't have the character of the classic ED.

Cool! Looks better than their initial release, with voice too! Better buy it or there'll be.... Trouble! :p

UPDATE : Hmmm just found out there are 2 versions of this! One with the Chair, and one with just robo itself.... i'll pass over the Chair version if it's gonna add another 100 or so bucks to it, doesn't look worth it!

Robocop Reboot.

Robo can ride a bike now? Actually, he looks more like a cyborg now, not very intimidating. Still, remains to be seen whether this remake will be any good... otherwise, i won't watch this for a dollar! :D

New Robocop?

Well, we know there's going to be a remake, but... what's wrong with the old robocop? The 80's version was a 'satire' on Corporate America, and the design of robocop back then was typical of American design; big, loud and in your face.

 

Hard to say now, but the new robocop is kinda.. wimpy, looks like something out of Deus Ex actually. New robo can apparently switch modes to suit the situation, the pic below is his 'SWAT' mode, whatever that does.

Well, the re-made Total Recall wasn't too good apparently. I hope they don't tarnish robo's name with this remake!

Hot Toys for 2012 - Robocop

Wow, guess when the opportunity is there, doesn't hurt to make a bit more money! :p

Hot Toys will be making an update to their previously released Robocop fig; the first release was so-so, but with the existing molding technology, i guess the 2012 COULD be pretty cool! (As long as Murphy's chin stays the same throughout the sculpting/production process :p)

There's also gonna be a 1/6 Cain figure from Robo II, which is kinda cool/creepy? Will they include the brain stem? I guess so! Actually, i'm looking forward more to an ED-209, which has been released before... man, that'd kill the secondary market.

Oh, there gonna be a v2 for the Iron Man MKI suit, so better start dumpin' the older version! :p
