You can say this show is heavily influenced by anime like Evangelion, and shows like ultraman and godzilla... Heck, was expecting ultraman to appear in some scenes! The human development seems a bit rushed in some parts, and the actors characters seem rather flat.... But we're here to see the robots right? And they don't dissapoint; the fight scences are pretty breathtaking and well choreographed, they move with a certain heft, so their scale and sizes look and feel believable on the big screen.
The storyline is servicable; which movie hasn't used the 'end of the world unless we stop the invasion' trope? Overall, an entertaining movie with pretty good pacing, definately worth a watch.... Oh, stay for the extra ending! ;)
Caught it today and it was awesome ! Ok some parts were boring and I fell asleep and some parts where cheesy (like the sad goodbyes, yada yada) but over all not too bad a monster flick - aside from the lousy acting... They should have used the sword on Gypsy Danger like early in the beginning !
