PS4 Battlefront : X-Wing VR Mission

Hot off the Sony E3 conference! There'll be a VR add-on to battlefront coming out this year? The video looks awesome.... :p PS. the PSVR set launches Oct 15 at USD399... ouchie.

MGS V Collector's Edition unboxing!

Sooo.. Picked this up yesterday at Funz, was almost not released cos MDA was taking their time... Then again, maybe the submission was late.. :p

Anyway, the box LOOKS nice with that faux leather look with the yellow stitches...actually its just printed. The metal diamond dog keychain is pasted on the outside and looks well made.

The box itself kinda splits open to reveal.. THE HAND. Under that sits the game itself and a steelcase with a special edition video or whatnot. The DLC codes and map are in the game disc itself.

Other than that... Nothing much really? The hand is cool and all though, would make a nice desktop display haha!

Ok this was some time back, must have missed it! But dayum, looks impressive! More Nathan Drake adventures is always good. :)

MGS V : The Phantom Pain Collectors Edition

So, the date has (finally) been announced! September 1st is the day we can find out if Quiet IS really Chico! Woo!

Anyways, the usual collector sets have been announced... Hmmm... what could i do with a full scale replica of Snakes Robot hand (In the Japanese Premium version)? The possibilities... the half scale would be slightly less creepy i guess? The in-game REX helmet is sure to inspire fear in all enemies! All it needs is to be able to launch a nuke! :p

GTA V (again) on PS4

So i'm playing GTA V again on the PS4, it's basically the same game with upgraded graphics (which really do look good) and some added functionality specific for the PS4 (the controller is basically the cell phone when it rings, which is pretty cool, and the light for the controller indicates the health status). The draw distance is improved, but the framerate is locked at 30fps... i wonder why they locked it out like that... so as not to make the XB1 look bad?

I think it's time most developers moved on to the next-gen of consoles already; doesn't really make sense anymore to be limited by the restrictions of the previous hardware. Plus prices now are pretty stable too.

Now, just waiting for Just Cause 3 hehe....

PS4 VR Headset

Morpheus? Interesting name for a headset. God of dreams or black dude from Matrix? Hehe. It'd be interesting to see how this goes, Sony has the hardware expertise, but Occulus Rift has the software behind their own VR set, and it's been more thoroughly tested by devs.

Still Eve Online Valkyrie is coming out for it! That's cool. :) Full story here.

Killzone : Shadow Fall

Ok, so just got Killzone SF over the weekend for the PS4, that brings my game library for the PS4 to a grand total of.... 2! Haha, well not counting the free stuff on PS Plus that is.

 

Well, the killzone series has always been the "Halo" of the PS consoles, and honestly speaking, I never really got into it; the action was always too generic and although the bad guys look interesting, the feel of the Killzone universe as a whole was never too enticing. Kinda hard for them, as they're stuck between the more well defined HALO universe, and shooters like COD/BF.

 

I think I'm into like, the fourth or fifth chapter of the game? Yeah, the graphics are nice, but nothing you've not seen on the PC already. (Try Crysis 3 on ultra...Ooooo). Gameplay itself is pretty generic, but they try to spice things up by adding a companion bot with you, and focusing more on single player actions rather than being part of a squad and all.

 

The game feels kinda like a throwback to the PS2/PS3 types of FPS.. enemies too 'Smart' with magic AI. There's too much guesswork I feel to know where to go next; yeah, pressing up on the D pad will show you the waypoint, but the problem is that the way the game is designed, there are no hints that you can actually climb up to a ledge and such until you are near it, and the way some of these are presented visually are not easy to spot.

 

I'll leave my final rants when I complete the game haha! :p

PS4

So, finally got around to setting up the ps4 in the room, got it before cny at retail, so dunno wat the queues are for. Bought a 1tb hybrid drive to swap out the default 500gb one that comes onboard; seeing how most of the games install to hdd, and with all the online downloads, i don't think 500gb will last too long!

The swap of the hdd was kinda painless and straightforward, setup is the usual process, if u have a psn account it'll tie you right back in. Best to have a ps plus account too, if just for the free games.

Talking about games... I've only one (knack) which my kid seems to enjoy. Well, actually he's having more fun with the AR game that comes with the ps4! Man, hope more decent games arrive, otherwise i'll have a nice looking console sitting there collecting dust!

Yes, a perfect day to sleep in bed at home! Man, it was raining since last nite, it would have been perfect to sleep in today... but... alas, work calls. :p This vid from Sony was... unexpected? It's farnie in that sense, I can imagine if everyone was just smiling and singing on the battlefield... :)

Well, at least the cheapos give the HDMI and USB cables now, which honestly speaking, doesn't cost much in bulk really.

 

PS4 (Sorta) Unveiled!

So the Playstation 4 has been announced, well, not too excited over it compared to the PS3, but still, should be interesting to see what it offers; just having high end graphics ain't gonna cut it any more.

Actually, the only new hardware they showed was the controller (which does look pretty cool) and the camera/sensor. Hopefully they have have saved the best for last with the actual PS4 set! :)
