Hehe, cools! The teaser image for Bumblebee is out, looks pretty close to the original series bumblebee... I wonder which beetle it uses though? Hopefully a clearer pic soon!

 

Last Day of Feb!

Two months have already passed? Oh man, we're almost in the end of 2014 haha!

 

Weather's here been like the desert these couple of weeks; blisteringly hot in the day and cold in the night. According to the news, it hasn't rained since Jan 3rd. The grass everywhere is mostly all dried up too. Don't think it was like this in the past! :p

TITANFALLLING!

One thing that baffles me in Titanfall is why you have to wait for your Titan to be deployed? It's like.... sending your tank driver out into the field to fight other tanks and telling him "... Hey sorry Jim, we don't have enough tanks to issue now, nevertheless could you go out there and fire off a few rounds first? We'll send you the tank later."

Or is someone up in the mechanical/deployment department slacking?

Mond.. Oops it's Tuesday!

Wow, busy week! Sunday was my boy's 4th birthday.. OMG time flies man, these kiddies grow up fast! Too many things to do, too little time! Not playing as much bf4 as I'd like, but I think priorities change haha! I'd like squeeze in a round or two before I gotta go bathe the kiddies, then i'll have to wait till they sleep before I can play.... and sometimes I just knock out before I even start haha. Darn, I'm starting to be like a vampire!

 

Well, a few thing about the 2nd Assault expansion I've learnt; Oman must be the worst TDM map in bf4, Firestorm is ok in CQ but too cluttered in TDM, Metro is still the same crap, in that sense, it makes Locker look tame and well designed. Caspian still looks good, good for CQ and ok for TDM although it does become a snipe fest. AS VAL rocks, but too bad on the limited ammo... reloads fast tho. DAO-12 is awesome.... but reloads take foreverrrr, even slower than in BF3. F2000 is pretty decent, but for short to medium range engagements. Didn't have a chance to try the M60!

Hot Toys Kerberos Panzer Jager

This is an interesting design from another side story for the Kerberos Saga, but I prefer the modern version compared to the aesthetics of this; I remember TomyTakara had a fierce 1/6 version a while back!

 

TGIF! - Bandai DX Chogokin YF-25 Prophecy

Oh man, Friday is here again! I still say weekends should be at least 3 days. Well, time to wind down and chill out woohoo!

In other news, Bandai is milki... uh releasing a new figure, the prototype for the VF-25 Messiah, the YF-25 Prophecy. (See the religious connection?) Looks cool albeit with garish colors!

 

The LEGO Movie

Caught this last night at Vivo (Stupid cinema forgot to dim the lights for the first few minutes, wtf is up with them nowadays?), and other than the slow first half of the movie, it was a pretty fun show to watch.

 

The pace picked up in the 2nd half, and the characters are interesting. Lots of nostalgia for those who've built LEGO before, and kinda fun to spot the sets used in the movie. Morgan Freeman was outstanding as usual! Some surprisingly touching scenes too! I won't go as far as to say it's a totally amazing show, but this is probably something i'll pick up on bluray to watch again.

Windows Phone

So like, I got a Nokia Lumia 1520 (Yes, Nokia) at office to test out..... is it any wonder why these guys have so little market share? I've used iOS and Android, and OMG, the WinPhone interface is atrocious! It's like, someone shuffled all the icons and just randomly threw them on the screen and let you guess where each Item is.

 

And they threw all the settings/options into another page... way to go MS! Even the chaos in Android isn't as bad as this.

On the bright side, the screen is good, albeit a bit too big.

Star Wars LEGO 2014 Summer Sets

Wow, the cantina's looking pretty good! So much better looking than the older version! :) They've improved on the landspeeder and the dewback too!

The B-Wing looks pretty much like the previous release, but the figures are nice. :)

Can prob give the AT-AT and Snowspeeder a pass, as they look like every other previous ones... and the poor AT-AT seems skinnier and skinnier with each release, must be on a brick cutting diet!



































The Imperial Star Destroyer looks pretty cool though, sleeker than the 6211 release! But perhaps not as much playability.

Whatchu gonna buy? Ghostbusters!

Dino Exhibition

Went to the Science Centre over the weekend to catch the Dinosaur Exhibition "Titans of the Past", man, has the place changed drastically since my school days! Not so drab anymore, and more kid friendly for sure. :)
We went only for the dino exhibit only though; wasn't too disappointed, dinosaurs are HUGE! First time for me being up close (to a full scale replica at least). There are some real fossils there, but the majority are replicas unfortunately... still... darn cool! :)

 

TittyFail

Haha, just got off the Titanfall beta... oh man, glad i'm not plonking any cash on that! Definately a game for the COD crowd, run and gun, and i dunno wat the fark is happening and i get shot anyway!

And the Titans are about as useless as the tanks in BF4 hehe.

This is the next release in the elite series from DAMToys, after the DEVGRU guy... what's up with the "THIS IS SPARTAAAAAA!" HS? Looks weird, gear looks ok but body looks kinda off? Well, that's one set less to spend moolah on!

Toys are Dying

I think this is a pretty interesting article, and something I've been saying will happen sooner or later.

 

Nowadays, the people who are buying toys of any kind are those from the late 70's to 80's, who are out in the workforce, and have the funds to buy the toys that they remember so fondly back in the days. A few dynamics have changed though; whereas toys back then were based off strong IP's and the DESIGN of the toys really made them interesting, toys these days are just rehashes of cartoons of the past.... Transformers? Yup, Star Wars? Of course. Nothing new to see, move along.

 

So I say it's no use really to hoard toys now, hoping to sell them 20 years down the road because 1) no kid will know what you are selling 2) they'll probably disintegrate by then anyway since they're all made in china. I applaud companies like Bandai, who are reaching out to kids with their model kits with the Gundam Build Fighter series for example, this is a way to get kids to love and remember the products which they'll hopefully carry on collecting later into their lives.

 

Kids these days are more interested in electronic media these days, I should know, my kid is more interested in using my iPad and PS3/4 than actually playing with his toys! I guess that's a reason for us back then playing with our toys too... what else did we have to do without mobile devices and the internet?

 

So I say just buy what you fancy, and not scalp 20 sandtroopers hoping to sell them for 1 million in the future haha.

Wellllll... looks like they've updated Blog to reflect the items from 2nd Assault... Guess it's incoming? At least now you can see the assignments in Blog. :p

Killzone : Shadow Fall

Ok, so just got Killzone SF over the weekend for the PS4, that brings my game library for the PS4 to a grand total of.... 2! Haha, well not counting the free stuff on PS Plus that is.

 

Well, the killzone series has always been the "Halo" of the PS consoles, and honestly speaking, I never really got into it; the action was always too generic and although the bad guys look interesting, the feel of the Killzone universe as a whole was never too enticing. Kinda hard for them, as they're stuck between the more well defined HALO universe, and shooters like COD/BF.

 

I think I'm into like, the fourth or fifth chapter of the game? Yeah, the graphics are nice, but nothing you've not seen on the PC already. (Try Crysis 3 on ultra...Ooooo). Gameplay itself is pretty generic, but they try to spice things up by adding a companion bot with you, and focusing more on single player actions rather than being part of a squad and all.

 

The game feels kinda like a throwback to the PS2/PS3 types of FPS.. enemies too 'Smart' with magic AI. There's too much guesswork I feel to know where to go next; yeah, pressing up on the D pad will show you the waypoint, but the problem is that the way the game is designed, there are no hints that you can actually climb up to a ledge and such until you are near it, and the way some of these are presented visually are not easy to spot.

 

I'll leave my final rants when I complete the game haha! :p

Oh man, it's Friday woohoo! So glad that the weekend's approaching wheeeee....! :p

 

There's a whole bunch of trailers after last weeks superbowl, the new TF4 movie trailer is out too, so far.... doesn't look impressive.. I think after the last two movies (which I thought were kinda bad), I'm sooo turned off the movie franchise. And honestly speaking, they LOOK like crap mashed together too.. classic TF all the way baby!

First Edition Prime - AOE

Haha! What a step backwards for TF! I mean, yes, keep the transformations simple, but not full-retard like this! They just stuffed the body into the cab! The G1 toys were simple to transform and had great replay value.... Hmmm, what's toy's coming to these days? Either they look great but are too expensive and brittle, or are cheap and have poor QC and no playability. :p

PS4

So, finally got around to setting up the ps4 in the room, got it before cny at retail, so dunno wat the queues are for. Bought a 1tb hybrid drive to swap out the default 500gb one that comes onboard; seeing how most of the games install to hdd, and with all the online downloads, i don't think 500gb will last too long!

The swap of the hdd was kinda painless and straightforward, setup is the usual process, if u have a psn account it'll tie you right back in. Best to have a ps plus account too, if just for the free games.

Talking about games... I've only one (knack) which my kid seems to enjoy. Well, actually he's having more fun with the AR game that comes with the ps4! Man, hope more decent games arrive, otherwise i'll have a nice looking console sitting there collecting dust!

Robocop 2014

So i just caught the new robocop movie in a mostly empty cinema (thank goodness), and i'm pleased to say that i was thoroughly entertained!

The new movie takes cues from the classic movie and adapts it to todays technology and thinking, with enough subtle homages to the original without it been a remake of the classic. This is definately a strong standalone movie, with a good cast, why, even comissioner gordon is in it! Haha, and you know who murphy's partner is? The black dood from bf4 haha!

This version focuses a bit more on the 'software' behind robo, with a kinda shocking scene which i didn't expect during his awakening. It's also less violent and gory than the originals, which is a non issue to me. Sure, there are a few loopholes in the movie, but what movie doesn't.

I still prefer the silver suit in the movie over the black one, and man, i wish HT would make a fig of it! Overall, a worthwhile watch, 4/5! :)

Soldier Story FBI HRT

Ok, so managed to get another fig set up... straight build no weathering! :p But still KINDA fun haha! Some parts are frustrating tho! :p This kit is actually similar to the FBI CIRG figure by SS too, just another color, so some parts are replicated, and not used by the fig!

 

Comparing between SS and Flagset, I'd say the quality of SS is slightly better in some areas, especially the fitting of parts. SS has a better, more dynamic body (I think the FBI HRT uses a new body), and is more stable whereas the MARSOC guy needs some support to stand up! Flagset has a better HS though, more realistic.

 

Now just need to kit up the DAMToys fig to compare between the three brands!

 

 

 

Flagset Marsoc part deux

Found some time yesterday to fix up the marsoc dude; man, the things are good for those with OCD! :p

Anywayz, took me a while to figure out what goes where, and some of the parts don't fit too well! But overall, still looks pretty cool. :) Here he is next to the Viper in the Master Lighthouse box (which is pretty ok for displaying 1/6 figs or similar!)
