Soldier Story FAMCOM 2013 Exclusive

Well, this is going to eventually be a regular release, but the price was hard to pass up! It's going for crazy prices, plus it's not easy to get for now. :)

Again, this is based off a US SF Operator, don't have details on what unit he belongs too, but that's ok. I love their special ed packaging, still less bulky than their reguar releases.

There's actually two releases of this guy, with the main difference being the jacket( either camo or tan, so it's all up to personal preference! (The camo version is a  Hobby Expo China Exclusive) Also, the HS is based off Gerard Butler as with all their releases.

STGCC Day 1

Woke up early today ( for a weekend anyway ) to head down to MBS for the convention, queue to go in was crazy, but managed to bump into a buddy who sneaked me in hehe.

The place seemed... Bigger.. This year, but didn't matter once the crowd came in! So everyone was squeezing and trying to get some shots of IRON MAN WHO WAS EVERYWHERE! Although gotta admit, the play imaginative displays were kinda cool.

Well, not easy to snap a few pics when you lugging your bags and a coupla toys! Anyway, the limited ed iron man was sold out again as usual, apparently queue started the day before hahaha, and apparently some ppl were paid to stand in line... Nothing new! You could see some ppl with upwards of 10 of these midas armors.. Sheesh.

TMNT : Out of the Shadows

Turtle Power! This looks kinda interesting! Reminds me of the old 4-way TMNT arcade cabinet 2D sidescroller we used to play after school at this old arcade at USSC (along with Captain Commando and WRESTLEMANIAAAAAA!). I wanna play as Leonardo! Available on Steam too!

Gone Home

Tried out this new game called 'Gone Home', basic premise is that the player returns home after a few years away, only to find the home empty, with a note on the door from the player's sister.

I initially thought it would be a horror/suspense type of game, but turns out to the anything but. The house itself is pretty well realised; the requirements seem pretty high, as the framerate isn't too good even when the textures look splotchy in places. And here i have a rig which is supposed to run bf3 at ultra and it can't render the interior of the house sheesh. Poor engine?

Anyway, graphics aside, the audio is pretty good too, there is the constant patter of rainfall in the background and occasional bouts of lightning and thunder, so creeping around the house has that added edge to it.... I tell ya, if they placed something to scare you suddenly, i would have fallen out of my seat!

The game itself consists of finding certain items to solve a few basic puzzles and advance the story, which i guess is pretty interesting. Bad thing is, once you've found out what happened... The game ends... Whua? I took at most an hour and a half to 2 hours for this game...

Anyway, worth a try, but definately not something you'd replay unless you like traipsing around creepy mansions!

Picked these up, though i don't really intend to collect most of the black series. Pretty good detail! Now to find time to open it...

Just in from falc's, although i think it was released some time ago! Pretty nice fig, though i may swap out the HS on this. :) Do they still use SCARs?

Black Desert - Korean MMO

Yes, I thought it was a CAKE shop or something, turns out it's an upcoming MMO that's hitting Korea in 2014 and North America the year later... but... DAAAYAAMMM!! Look at those character models... even better than the FF series!

Man! No respite from the Sun! Weather's going wonky I tell you. Up early today with the kiddies for the Art Garden exhibition at 8Q at SAM. Not too bad, although the place is kinda small... some of the installations are creeeeppy..

Anyway, 1 week more to STGCC wootz! :)

Yay it's Friday again! Just lookin to Friday's nowadays hehe, a brief respite from all the madness of the week. :) Well, at least there's STGCC next week to look forward to! Thinking of getting the tickets earlier rather than queuing on the day itself.

Zoids Gojulas (Zoidzilla)

Cool, they're making a revised Gojulas; I still have this guy tucked away somewhere, albeit already with broken pieces here and there. Too bad the new one isn't motorized or has lights. The old version was awesome when the motor whined as it plodded slowly across the living room floor, with it's eyes flashing red and moving left to right.... :)

















Nice to know they've kept the basic design there, with more details and poseability. Darn expensive though! 17,000 yen!

Diablo 3 Expansion - Rap..Uh Reaper of Souls!

Wow, it's expected, but really? D3 kinda left a bad taste in my mouth; I really wanted to like it, but the unbalanced gameplay, lag issues, online only play and Auction House kinda sapped the fun out of what I liked about the series... it's kinda degenerated into Dungeon Hunter haha.... :p And to add injury to insult, it's coming out on consoles too, and that's where people realized all the weird design decisions they made was to accommodate the eventual releases to the console. Not to mention all the later changes they made to keep people playing....

 

I guess there'll be people playing this still though! Oh bitter me! >_<;

STGCC HT Exclusives

It's probably going be the same scene as usual; scalpers lining up the day before and asking hiring people to help them queue for the toys.

Overheard a toy shop at CSC last week talking about lining up for the toys; there was some pinoys asking the owner about the queue, they offered him $800 to line up for the HT figs, the owner replied even if they paid him $1000 he'll only consider.

I guess nowadays, the best way is to collect what you can only when you can get it; not worth fighting the crowd for these!

ASF-X Shinden II Databook

Picked this book up; can't resist AC stuff! (Although AC:AH was truly disappointing :( ). Anywayz, these are the same guys who did the Macross/Gundam databooks; very cool these, as they try to bring a real world feel to these vehicles even though they are fictional. There's background info, tons of pics of the planes during prototype testing, squadron colors, technical specs, weapons loadouts and more!

 Nice surprise, was near the end there was a short article on the CFA-44 Nosferatu!

Spa Day!

Took the day off to head down to the Banyan Tree Spa at MBS; had already been there once before, and it's an awesome experience! Pretty pricey though! For the amount paid, you can probably have 2 massages at Bintan.

Nice view I must say, the Spa's on the 55th floor, just under the 'boat'.

LEGO Ghostbusters!

Well, not officially yet of course! Hopefully it gets made like the BTTF set! :D It made 10K votes on the CUUSOO site, so it's now legible for review. :) Look at the firehouse.... beautiful!

AC:ZERO - ADFX-02 Morgan

Awesome kit of the Morgan from ACZ! This is a one off custom from Wonderfest 2011, you know, I think if i got a 3D-printer, this is one of the first things i'll produce and sell! :)

The red one is the drone version, which I've never come across before, but sure looks like the Falken from AC5!

 

STGCC 2013 Exclusive - Metroplex!

Woo! Another exclusive to get; this would be, like the 3rd version of Metroplex? There's the regular release, the SDCC 2013 version, the HK Anicon version and now this. :p That's too many metroplex'es, but it's taller than Fort Max.... so awesome. :) This one comes with little mini bots scaled to the same size, something like the game "Fall of Cybertron" which was not too bad actually.

Anyway, been going through my Friends list in FB, and removing quite a few from the newsfeed, cos they were starting to get on my nerves. Well, these people kinda meet this category :

1) FB is not a complaint page about how terrible your life is or how much you hate work or the people around you. (Sure you're entitled to once in a while) But some people just do it a waayyyyy bit too much.

2) I know your wife/husband/gf/bf is THE MOST AMAZING THING TO HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE, but no need to remind everyone everyday thanks.

3) Speakies English please; stop posting stuff no one understands or can read, thanks! There are other forums/blogs for your own language.

Fansproject (NOT) Stunticons

Got a shipment in today and these guys were part of it! Wondering when they would arrive! It's Fansproject's 3rd and 4th vehicles, Downforce (Dragstrip) and Last Chance (Deadend). These two
guys form the arms of Menasor, so 1 more to go!

The sculpting and paintjob is pretty good, quality of the plastic feels ok too.

Have not transformed them into their car modes yet, so can't comment on that feature!

Soldier Story - FBI HRT

Picked this up at birdshop last week along with the boba fett fig, nice figure and using a new body apparently. Saw a few around CSC too at retail price. This is supposedly low production? But that's what they always say yeah?

CSC Time

Man, it's been ages since i've last been to CSC, the reno works around that area are mostly complete now, in CSC itself, the usual suspects are all still there, the shops are looking.... Run down? There's a new 1/6 shop there called 42 something.

Utoys had the SS SF figure, at 280, a bit ex! :p Usual shops and sellers with annoying faces and ridiculous prices are somehow still in business too!

Just saw the preorder price for the YF-29 Isamu ver from the birdshop.... 400 bucks? Uh, sorry man, you can get it elsewhere for much less than that, since the retail's only about 17,890 yen. Well, there's been a trend of them having their prices go up, but guess they have to cover their overheads and all. :p

Macross RVF-25

Day 2 of holidays, and man, time passes fast when you're having fun! Saw a couple of F-15's fly by a few times, otherwise, nothing interesting! :p

 

The RVF-25 came out before the VF-25F was released, other than the mint green color, it's pretty sweet; "RVF-25: Electronic Warfare variant, with a dorsally-mounted rotodome and featuring a different head design. This fighter can be used to control AIF-7S Ghost drone fighters"

 

Said ghost drones will be sold separately with the Super Packs and are coming out later this year! :)

 

 

Soldier Story FAMCOM 2013 SF Figure

Pretty cool this, apparently STGCC 2013 is going to have an exclusive version of a yet unnamed figure, but I highly suspect it'll be this in another color or with different gear! :)

Boba Fett & Han in Carbonite - Black Series

Hooah! It's a holiday today and tomorrow thankfully, although it was mostly wet and cold weather throughout the day! Din do anything much, played a bit of The Last of Us... but it's such a slowwww paced game, would make a good movie though!

 

Was at TFH to pick stuff up, surprisingly the guy told me they've a already brought in the Black series Boba and Han! It's nice, the details on these 6" figures are great, and sculpting is pretty sharp. :) The box itself is black, but has this cool embossing of Boba's visor.... dust magnet though as you can see from the pics! :p

Battlestar Galactica - Viper Mk II

Granted this is the remake of the MK II from the new TV series, it keeps pretty close to the MK II from the Orginal TV series back in the 80's! Always had a soft spot for BSG; I remember watching this back in Gardens when I was young. Yes, people say it's the poor man's Star Wars, but the theme song is outstanding and memorable in it's own right, and some of the designs are cool, iconic and outlandish in some sense!

This prebuilt model is the MK-II belonging to "Apollo", apparently there's the same Viper but with the callsigns "Husker" (Adama) and "Hotdog" (Which was the other choice when I picked this up.... uh, i'll stick with Apollo thanks!) It comes in a launch tube shaped box, which is pretty cool. The model itself is well painted with nice tampo'ed on markings, though it could use a bitttt more weathering to get the battle worn look. There's also plastic kits of these models, from which these were derived from (same manufacturer!), and as nice as it'd be to built one of these, time is a luxury with 2 kiddies to look after! So these will do for now till the day they grow up!



There was this episode that really left a deep impression with me, it was when Starbuck crashed on a planet, and had to rebuild a Cylon for companionship... man, I gotta go d/l that episode to watch again! Sadly, the second season of BSG TOS was kinda krap... I mean, flying bikes? Puhlease....

Patlabor Live Action Movie

Cool that they've gone ahead to build a live size Patlabor Ingram! With the carrier and command car too, awesome! Well, it's gonna be mostly CG, but hopefully they can make a decent movie out of this! :)

Man, i remember being relatively crazy about this series back in the early 90's, the designs were mostly realistic and awesome, my favorites are still the Griffon and Helldiver though!

Mondays!

Well, even though it was a rainy Monday ( No, I didn't get out of bed this morning haha! I just stepped in), at least this will be a short week woohoo! :) Holiday from Thursday onwards, and I took next Monday off too, so super long weekend!

 

Bad thing is, the longer you are away from work, the worse the suck is when you get back!

Revoltech Raiden

From Revengeance ( Is that even a word? It should be used more often though! ), looks cool, but revoltech stuff doesn't last cos of all the rubber they use in they're materials; the surface gets sticky after a while, and the whites slowly change color....

Macross Frontier - VF-25F Reissue

This shipped over just this week finally! It's the re-issue of course, the original 25F was release about a year and a half to 2 years ago? There was a crazy clamour for it online, especially since Bandai didn't actually make many to go around. Thankfully subsequent versions has sufficient numbers to go around.... so too bad scalpers!

The VF-25F is pretty much a GRRREEATTT improvement over the first version that Bandai released. The toy now pretty much follows the lineart, and the transformation is well thought out and designed... no crazy frustrations over misfitting joints etc!

Also looks great in all 3 modes! Well, Bandai's definitely milking the mould for all it's worth, wonder when they'll release the Super and Armored packs for this again! :)

SW Black Series - 6" Stormtrooper

Finally a decent looking Stormtrooper! I guess it's never easy getting the sculpt really right when it's just over 3" in size. These things are expensive though, I saw them at retail at JL at $34.90 I think!
